Young Global Leaders Network granted United Nations ECOSOC Special Consultative Status

Young Global Leaders Network (YGLN) has been granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). This recognition affirms YGLN’s expertise and allows the organisation to contribute insight to UN discussions that align with its mission to develop ethical, globally minded leaders.

Special Consultative Status provides accredited NGOs with access to ECOSOC and many of its subsidiary bodies, with opportunities to attend meetings, submit statements, and take part in UN convenings relevant to their work. It also opens doors to human rights mechanisms and other UN processes where civil society input matters.

What this means for YGLN

  • Engage with ECOSOC and relevant subsidiary bodies on youth leadership, skills, enterprise and civic participation.

  • Seek accreditation to attend UN conferences and events and, where appropriate, submit written inputs within our areas of competence.

  • Deepen partnerships that advance the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

A message from our founder
“Special Consultative Status strengthens our ability to represent the voice and potential of young people on the global stage. We will use it responsibly, to share evidence from our programmes and to help shape policies that unlock opportunity.” — Emmanuel Addo, Founder, Young Global Leaders Network
