YALS Young Leader of the Month – February 2026: MacDonald Maduabuchi

In February 2026, the Young African Leaders Summit, an initiative of Young Global Leaders Network proudly recognised MacDonald Maduabuchi of Nigeria as our YALS Young Leader of the Month.

MacDonald, a Medical Laboratory Scientist and public health advocate, earned this recognition following his outstanding achievement in the UONGOZI Institute Youth Leadership Competition 2025, where he emerged as the top prize winner among over 1,300 entries from across Africa.

His award-winning essay, “Seizing the moment, shaping the future: Africa’s SDG journey,” presented bold and innovative perspectives on accelerating Sustainable Development Goals implementation across the continent. His ideas reflected clarity, depth, and a strong commitment to Africa’s development agenda.

A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an intern at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, MacDonald combines scientific expertise with a passion for health education and digital engagement. His work focuses on improving public health outcomes and strengthening awareness through accessible platforms.

At YALS, we celebrate young leaders who do not wait for change but actively shape it. MacDonald represents a generation of Africans turning knowledge into impact.

We congratulate him on this remarkable achievement and look forward to his continued contribution to public health and youth leadership across Africa.
